Made for the BAKIN Halloween 2024 Game Jam.
The game only supports Controllers. Keyboard/Mouse will not work properly.
21/11: Not an update per say, but this version has been renamed to the jam version. A different version built off the foundations from this jam is in the works, with adjusted mechanics, story, progression, etc... Please look forward to more information!

WHAT IS ECRAZEUS?
Ecrazeus is an arcade action diet roguelite game where you must collect weapons and power ups for your stats by defeating enemies, and escape the floor before an explosion that steals souls gets unleashed by the soul snatching device of the level. But with the power to jump on foes and use up to two weapons, you should be able to escape in time! After floor 6's dungeon, the game becomes an endless series of randomly chosen levels (previously played levels and 6 new unique levels, some with strange gimmicks), with stronger enemy variants appearing and enemy attack and health going up and up.
Try to beat your high score before losing all your lives!
STORY
In the future, mankind has fled Earth, during the gods absence from human intervention: the gods started dying by their absence, and the severe lack of living humans has diminished the power of the mightiest among them. In a series of tragedies to regain control of the situation, the gods end up creating angels from the souls in Hades to rekindle life with the human survivors from Zeus' wrath on Earth. But angel souls were almost as good as human souls, and greed soon forced lesser gods desiring better living conditions to transform their angels into demons, creating huge armies out of one soul, to commit thievery and hoarding of the souls of men, angels and even killing other gods. It soon became the optimal survival strategy, eventually developing weapons of soul snatching that turned entire celestial neighborhoods into deserted halls littered with demons and soul snatching devices.
You play as an angel, Phonne, who, after taking a very long snooze in a school for angels, gets ambushed by a group of demons, and must destroy the power source for one of the local soul snatching devices.
DUAL-WIELDING WEAPONS
There are 7 different weapon types to use in combat (Sword, Spear, Magic Boots, Bow, Staff, Gatling Gun, and Miscellaneous), with several unique variants per type, like a sword that creates a doppelganger that attacks in place, a bow who's arrows bounces off walls, or a staff that creates chickens that attack foes. In total, there are 24 different weapons that can drop!
And best of all, you can wield two weapons at the same time! The LB and RB buttons are used to control each weapon individually, and the LT and RT buttons will let you swap either hand for a weapon in the inventory!
LOOTING, ITEMS & POWER UPS
Enemies become stronger and more durable after every floor: to survive, you'll need to collect new weapons and power ups from treasure chests and defeating foes! Power ups permanently increase one of 5 stats, so it's important to collect as many as possible!
You can also collect weapons from treasure chests and foes, and each one will be stronger than the last! Make sure to pick up as many as possible!
There are also a variety of consumable items as well that can drop: make sure to be in a safe place while using them, and they can help you survive the onslaught!
LEVELS & HAZARDS
The demons created by gods are out to grab souls, and your angelic soul turns out to be a great delicacy of power for the gods!
Numerous traps exist, such as arena ambushes and pitfalls, but the most devious and omnipresent one is the soul snatching devices: a time limit exists on most levels, and reaching zero will have the device unleash a powerful blast that will instantly kill you!
It's not all lost, as enemies can also grant time bonuses upon death, which can delay the timer to let you explore a bit more, and collect a few more power ups and weapons before having to make a b-line to the exit!
SECRETS?
- There are 12 forbidden documents about the history of the world that can be found on the maps introduced between floor 2 to 6. You can read them on the pause menu, or check them on the title screen after a run.
- After floor 9, Phonne will sometimes chime in with some secret banters in the elevator. There are about 18 of these, but they're chosen at random and aren't always guaranteed to play.
- The ending scenery changes depending on your score count! To see the best scenery, gain at least 50,000 Points!
- If you gain 100,000 Points in a single run, you'll get a very typical reward that can be used in later runs ;). To activate, start a new game and you should see a new entity inside the school after the gap.
BUGS & JANK
The nature of creating such a game in an early access RPG engine means that you get a lot of strange jank out of my control (and some that's in my control but laziness + time constraints). A lot of the more pressing matters are BAKIN engine bugs at the moment that haven't been fixed yet. These include:
- Analog Stick controls both the Item/Weapon menu and player movement at the same time (bug with bakin that prevents me from unbinding analog from menus to which it would break movement, a fix should be releasing in the future)
- Jumping gets cut short by invisible air, enemy hitboxes, and floating power-ups (bug with bakin).
- Animation breaking (that might be on my end of the logic stick)
- Lag, lag, lag, lag (especially in bigger maps like the dungeon areas, bakin issue?).
If the engine does fix some of these bugs, I'll update this jam entry with the fixes.
